Sometimes life has an interesting way of putting things into perspective. My job can be stressful, and sometimes when things aren't going well, it seems like life could stop for the whole universe if the details don't get hammered out.
Now don't get me wrong, my job has a lot on the line for my clients AND myself. With that said, it's easy to lose perspective on things, whether it be buying a house, stubbing a toe, or maybe something worse.
Today, I had a phone call with a work colleague . I was going to start the conversation by ranting about a couple of deals I am working on that are giving me fits, and how I have been stressing about them for several days.
But before I could start my speech, I was told that my friend's younger sister had passed away in her mid-20's a few days prior.
I immediately forgot whatever it was I was going to say, and listened to him tell me the backstory.
After hanging up the phone, I forgot about my own troubles for a while. I mean, they eventually came back within a couple hours, but they didn't affect me as much.
Perspective is an interesting thing. Sometimes our moments of individual perspective are someone else's moments of their world falling apart.
